I got a disease problem in my fish tank a lil help please?
I bought these cheap platys 4rm walmart it wz a pair of 2 and they male died 4rm white spots on him wht should I do 2 prevent this 4rm spreading? i already bought this tank buddy medicine and ick stuff please help
Well, I started with a 10 gal tank and washed all the rocks, the tank, plants- everything, added water conditioner (Stress Zyme and Stress Coat) waited a day with the under gravel filter on, got healthy fish (some fish will die as they are just weak, this might be the case if you bought it from the same tank, try another fish shop?), floated the bag for 20 mins and waited. I found I only needed a pH test and it was all fine (pH 7), they're still going today. To answer your question, yes what you described sounds drastic but sometimes the good bacteria just doesn't get off to a good start with some tanks, I have never added ammonia or waited so long, goldfish are strong. I've found a good filter is all you really need. Speak to the place you bought the fish as they might have had more complaints due to a sick tank.
no you want to use aquarium salt. I use it in my 75 gallon goldfish tank, my boyfriend uses it in his 90 gallon cichlid tank and we also add a little to our turtle tank!! It help keeps them from getting sick!
u shud add a table speen of uniodized salt for every 5 gallons and that should get rid of ur ick but walmart fish alwaiz die u shud get some from a local fish stor well good luck enywais
